With Empire Online threatening Party Gaming with legal action, what is to be made of the situation? Who is in the right, and who is in the wrong? The answer might not seem clear cut, but it really is – Party Gaming is in the right, and Empire Online is in the wrong. Why is this the case? Keep in mind this is an opinion, but Empire Online was using Party Gaming software for quite some time to power their own online gambling business. They were understandably vexed when Party Gaming decided to stop allowing companies to be skin sites, and might have had their egos bruised a bit in Party Gaming’s offer amount for a buyout.

But Empire Online isn’t a true online casino. Okay, it has the website and it has the games, but the games aren’t even their own games. They’ve used Party Gaming software, and tried to pass themselves off as being some unique online casinos experience. Party Gaming is an online poker powerhouse, and Empire Online simply the rider on their coattails. Is it any wonder that not long after Party Gaming went public with an IPO on the London Stock Exchange that Empire Online did the same? They could see the writing on the wall – soon, Party Gaming wouldn’t need them to be a skin site, so it was time to try and make easy money with an online casinos IPO of their own.

Things didn’t go to plan though, and then right as there were talks between Empire Online and Sportingbet, then Empire Online and Party Gaming, various estimates on Empire Online’s net worth kept getting lower and lower, and finally the talks broke off. Empire Online is an online casinos business acting like a girlfriend dumped by her boyfriend after getting caught cheating with another guy. She’s vengeful. That’s what Empire Online is. A vengeful online casinos company with little right to be such a thing.
