Microgaming Online Casinos - Baseball odds way too early at casinos
It is one of those things that make you really feel that online casinos have nothing better to do on their hands. Any sports fan knows that this year’s World Series winner may be next years failing team, and that this years team – for pretty much every baseball team - may not be the same lineup as the year before. Yet online casinos and sports books want to demonstrate that they are on top of the game, as Sports Book tries and failed to do this week with the announcement that they were offering odds already on the 2006 World Series.
The sheer immaturity which went into the decision to offer odds at their online casinos and sports betting site is demonstrated by Sports Book’s top pick: The New York Yankees. Anyone who picked up a newspaper or turned on ESPN or Fox Sports in the past year knows that only if you’re willing to take an extreme risk for the chance of a big payoff will one bet on the Yankees going to the World Series and winning; the Bronx Bombers haven’t won a World Series since 2000, but they feel that New York deserves to be on top thanks to, as Sports Book said in a press release, the “talent of their roster and the money they are willing to spend to make their team competitive”.
So what was the Yanks’ performance last season, a fluke? Was Steinbrenner fuming because he hadn’t spent enough money on talent that wasn’t performing nearly as well as their paychecks deemed it should? Please. Online casinos shouldn’t shy away from offering odds on future World Series which won’t take place for nearly a year. People are always going to place wagers on their favorite team, or the underdogs, and so forth. But offering as a top pick a team which, though beloved by fans in New York and around the country and the world, hasn’t done all that well recently means that Sports Book, and other online casinos, might want to do some research before just cavalierly offering odds at their online sports betting sites.
